Hi,
This week I built a mould and started to prepare some wood pieces for the sound box.
Cutting of the top part of the mould in some chipwood. I left a margin of about 2-3mm :
I glued my blueprint on top of the piece and I took out the 2 mm excess with a rasp :
For the lower part I also cutted it and I left a 5mm margin. I taped it on the top part with some double-side tape:
All of this was to be able to get 2 identical parts by using a router and a flush trim bit :
I then put some squared wood pieces in between and I screw everything together :
At last I drilled some regular holes on the egdes so I will be able to clamps the ribs !
After having finished the mould I started to prepare some wood pieces that I will need to make the sound box.
I started with the bridges. From the wood cuts below I will make the lower and upper bridges :
Cutting :
Here are the future lower and upper bridges :
I also started to cut the front rib :
And the supports which will come in the corner of the sound box to hold the ribs :
Here are the supports I was telling you about and on the rigth it’s the wood pieces that will come on the side of the sound box !
It’s all for today ! The next step is to cut and bend the ribs !
